About Sarah Batalka

Sarah Batalka I've been obsessed with realism since I was a kid. The mediums I prefer to use are graphite, colored pencil, and acrylic paint. My work covers a wide variety of subjects including: portraits of pets and people, landscapes, still life, florals, wildlife, and more. I particularly enjoy creating art that has a vintage and nostalgic feel. That and a love of the natural world is most often reflected in the art I create, usually in hyper-realistic detail. My angel series, however, is a unique and whimsical, contemporary take on divine presence.

In addition to artistic inclination, I was born with a rare and debilitating disease, called Mitochondrial Disease (Mito). It affects most of my organs/systems and my muscles. Despite feeling progressively weakened and diminished by Mito, I've been able to grow and strengthen my artistic talent. Mito will eventually take me from this world but what I've created with my hands and heart, I hope, will be left behind to inspire others. Even in times of darkness, we can look for light and find beauty. Through art, I can transcend the pain and struggle that is my life. It's a passion and it keeps me going. There isn't anything that makes me happier than sharing my art. Please, enjoy your visit.
